Forest School is an inspiration process, that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees. It is a specialist learning approach that sits within and compliments the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.
At Forest School, all participants are viewed as:
Forest Schools links to the National Curriculum and can be an exceptional tool for subjects such as Geography, Science, D&T, Numeracy and many more. However, its ability to focus on the whole development of the child, specifically their life skills is perhaps its greatest selling point. Forest Schools helps to prepare children for the challenges of life and develop well-rounded people.
Forest Schools can be delivered in either your School or Nursery setting, or off-site in woodland.
School and Nursery sessions are adapted to suit the environment we are working with. Ideally, there will trees and nature already in place. In some of our partner schools, part of the Forest Schools process has been to create a suitable environment for the sessions to be delivered whilst building a long term, sustainable, Forest Schools location for the school. This process includes tree planting, furniture making and the building of natural boundaries.
Where there is a suitable off-site location local that we can use, we are more than happy to do this. We do have access to fantastic woodland in Breaston, Derbyshire that both School and Holiday Camp sessions are ran from.
